- Position: full sun
- Soil: fertile, well-drained soil
- Rate of growth: fast-growing
- Flowering period: March to April
- Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection)
Quickly covering an unsightly wall or fence with its lustrous, evergreen foliage, this gorgeous climber is ideally suited to sunny, sheltered positions. The foliage is attractive, but it’s mainly grown for its lightly scented flowers, which appear in abundance in early spring. Try to plant it near a seating area or entrance so you can take full advantage of their perfume!
- Garden care: No routine pruning is necessary. If the spread of the plant needs to be restricted prune immediately after flowering, cutting back overlong shoots to healthy buds. Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser and a mulch of well-rotted garden compost around the base of the plant in early spring.
- Humans: Skin irritant; Pets: Harmful if eaten
