A large and upright shrub from Western China with narrowly oval, leathery leaves up to 10cm long. This evergreen, ‘Many-Flowered Spindle’ bears clusters of small, yellow-green flowers which are followed by ribbed yellow-orange fruits that split to reveal orange-red seeds. A choice plant for medium to large gardens in a sunny, well-drained spot.
- Garden care: Tip prune young plants in mid to late spring to encourage bushy growth and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.
