A relatively compact form of the much-loved honeysuckle, ‘Sweet Sue’ is ideal for smaller gardens, and can flourish (if kept well fed and watered) in a large pot. It starts producing its creamy-white flowers in early summer, and these fill the air with their deliciously sweet perfume, while gradually turning a deeper, golden yellow as they age. A cottage garden classic.
- Garden care: Cut back over-large plants after flowering, removing a third of the flowering shoots. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant in early spring.
- Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental – not to be eaten
