This large golden-leaved shrub is perfect for the back of a border, where it will lend height, colour, texture and contrast to other late season interest shrubs and perennials. It’s also pretty in early spring however when the stems are laced with small, silver-yellow catkins, which emerge before yellow-green, lance-shaped leaves appear. Then, as the season progresses, the foliage colour changes to a brighter yellow, which makes it a great accent plant for a mixed planting scheme. Pair this with Cotinus ‘Grace’ which also thrives in full sun and you’ll have some amazing autumn fireworks!
- Garden care: Prune back hard in winter. Remove any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter and shorten any over-long shoots. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted compost in the planting hole.
- CAUTION toxic if eaten/skin & eye irritant
